Preoperative:  Are your or a family member scheduled for a surgery in 2022?  Advances in surgical techniques have resulted in shorter hospital stays and patients often go home the same day!  While research suggests patients recover more quickly at home, the first few days following surgery can be challenging for both patients and their caregivers.

High Fall Risk:  Do you or a family member have a fall history or a high risk for falls?  Falls among adults aged 65 and older are common and are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries in the elderly population.  Per the Department of Health, Rhode Island’s rate of hospitalization and fatal falls is higher than the national rate. ¹  

A personalized Home Safety Consultation assesses for household risks that could trigger an injury or fall.  Common causes of falls include elevated thresholds, uneven flooring, confined hallways and bedrooms, improper bed height, lack of grab bars in bathroom or shower, and pets.

A Home Safety Consultation* offers strategies to make household mobility as safe, efficient, and pain-free as possible.  It includes recommendations for specific equipment, suggestions for living space modification, and gait & stair training.
